Mattancherry synagogue which is also Paradesi Synagogue was constructed in the year 1568 by the Jewish community in Cochin. This Cochin Jewish Synagogue lies next to the Mattancherry Palace. The structure shows the influence of Hindu culture in its architecture. The Paradesi synagogue hosts some valuable items such as the scrolls of ancient testament written in Hebrew, gold and shiny crowns gifted by the Raja, and glass chandeliers. The Jewish Synagogue is one of the exemplary sightseeing locations in Kerala. For the public, the synagogue continues open from 10 am to 12 noon and again from 3 pm to 5 pm every day except Saturdays and Jewish vacations. Being centrally established in Mattancherry, the synagogue is easily accessible.
