Dharmanath Jain Temple in Mattancherry

The Dharmanath Jain Temple in Mattancherry is the divine place for the Jain Community who migrated from Kutch and Saurashtra of Gujarat several years ago for trade. This is the only Jain Tirth temple of the Kerala. This temple is located on the Gujarati road. This Jain temple is dedicated to Theerthankara Shree Dharmnath Swamy and is open to all communities. The interior of the building is entirely made of marble and is adorned with artworks. This consists of idols of Jain Gods, ‘Thirthankara's’. The beautifully sculptured pillars are curved elephant trunk brackets which closely resemble the Jain Dilwara Temple at Mount Abu.

On entering the temple, one could feel the tranquility inside. The architecture of the temple is inspired by the Jain temples of Gujarat and is the perfect place for meditation and spiritual healing. One can witness a lot of people meditating during temple hours. The temple has a lush green background with trees standing tall to welcome visitors. The pavements leading to the sanctum Sanctorum is clean and architecturally perfect. The gates of the temple bear a picture of Gaja Lakshmi sitting over the lotus which is beautiful. The temple has a plenty of parking spaces in and around it which are sufficient to accommodate pilgrimage groups.
