Ernakulam Shiva Temple

Ernakulam Shiva Temple is one of the oldest temples in Central Kerala. The presiding deity of this temple is Lord Shiva is furthermore known as 'Ernakulathappan'. An annual festival for 8 days throughout January-February months every year is celebrated in this temple. The festival concludes with the 'Arattu' parade when the image of the deity is taken for a sacred bath in the temple pool and in the evening there is stunning fireworks. A heritage carnival is furthermore held with a variety of programs such as melodies live performances, classical promenade performances including Kathakali.
