Kanjiramattom Mosque

Kanjiramattom Mosque is built in memory of Saint Sheikh Fariduddin. Located about 25 km southeast of Kochi city, the mosque is famous for Kanjiramattom Kodikuthu carnival commemoration. Thousands of devotees arrive here throughout this carnival from all over the Kerala.

Festivals in Kanjiramattom Mosque

The annual carnival of Kanjiramattom Kodikuthu is held in the Kanjiramattom Mosque, constructed as a memorial to Sheikh Fariduddin. The Chandanakkudam or Sandalwood vessel ceremonial is the major event of the Kanjiramattom Kodikuthu and is conducted at evening, when the pilgrims carry vessels covered with Sandalwood paste and proceed in a parade to the Mosque. The six caparisoned and ornamented elephants and folk performances add color to the event. Traditional Muslim art types like Duffmuttu and Kolkali are also arranged during the carnival. These are song and dance performances.
