Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church

Malankara Orthodox church is a very old church of India and it traces its origin to as far back as A. D. 52 when St. Thomas one of the Disciples of Jesus Christ came to India and established Christianity in the South Western regions of the sub-continent.

Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church in Kerala was founded by one of the twelve apostles of Jesus Christ, St. Thomas, who came to India in 52 A.D. From the fourth century the Indian church entered into a close connection with the Persian or East Syrian Church. From the Persians, the Indians inherited East Syrian language and liturgies and step-by-step came to be renowned as Syrian Christians.
