Pazhayangadi Mosque

Pazhayangadi Mosque in Malappuram is considered as one of the important religious places in Kerala. Also known as the Kondotty mosque, it is said to be built in 18th century. This mosque is dedicated to a holy man, Muhammad Shah. He is popularly mentioned as Kondotty Thangal. It is constructed in the Mughal method. The mosque has a magnificent dome and is white in color.

History of Pazhayangadi Mosque

Thousands of devotees visit this mosque. The Valiya Nercha festival conducted here is  popularly called as Kondotty Nercha which is held in the months February or March. This lasts for a week and local vendors put their stalls in the building. The best time to visit this mosque is throughout this carnival time of the year. The shrine is visited by numerous devotees as well as visitors throughout the Valiya Nercha, a well liked week long carnival commemorated throughout the months of February or March.
